Petrozavodsk State University is a classic university in the city of Petrozavodsk city in the Republic of Karelia. Petrozavodsk State University was founded in 1940. Petrozavodsk State University has a high status as a major research center in the field of programming, information technology, research, plasma, microelectronics, mathematics, physics, medicine, biology, history, philology, political and social sciences, law, economics, forestry issues, construction and agricultural sectors. At present, the University comprises 10 faculties, 90 departments, 7 educational institutions and 8 research institutes. Currently, the number of scientific and teaching staff in the Petrozavodsk State University has more than 1000 people who are training 14,800 students. Till date Petrozavodsk State University has trained over 38000 students.
