Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography is a higher educational institution in Moscow. Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography was formed in 1930 as the Land Survey Institute was divided into two institutions of higher education: the Moscow Geodesy Institute (now Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography and the Moscow Institute of Land Management. In 1993 the Moscow Geodesy Institute was transformed into Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography. Today Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography prepares graduates in the field of geodesy, mapping, aerial photography, photogrammetry, optical instrument, geographic information systems, as well as architects and lawyers. The material and technical base of the Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography includes two major academic buildings, 3 auxiliary educational buildings, 2 dormitories, 2 training grounds, sports camp and a library. Currently Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography has 7 faculties, 42 departments and staff of 600 skilled teachers. Every year Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography accept 3500 students within Russia and 29 foreign countries. In 74 years Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography has trained 32000 professionals.
